Welcome to Wermlands Nation!

It’s time for a new exciting semester here in beautiful Lund and we want to take this opportunity to wish you all very welcome to town, the university and Wermlands Nation.
Wermlands is one of Lund’s oldest nations (founded in 1682) and the Nation house (which happens to be the oldest building housing a student Nation in Lund) is located centrally on Lilla Tvärgatan 13 (see directions below). If you want to be part of a friendly, active nation with great traditions, join Wermlands! Registering is easy; just stop by our office at the Nation house (entrance located on the back of the building) and our volunteering members will help you register!

So what are Nations… exactly?
The Nations in Lund function as a social extension of the university; a place where students can live, eat their meals, meet new friends and engage in a lot of activities and even though this is important to all students it’s even more so for students who are new both to Lund and the Swedish culture.

More about Wermlands!
Wermlands is one of the Nations with an International Program; we have an internal secretary who is responsible for the registration of international students. The international secretary cooperates with the other two registration officers (inskrivare in Swedish) to make sure that all vital information is available in English and reaches the international students in Lund.
During registration week(s) our office is manned from 12 pm to 5 pm with happy Wermlands members eager to help you register. Bring your letter of acceptance and a valid photo ID. We will provide you with a tuition bill that you can pay online or at your bank. You will receive all the information you might need during your first weeks in Lund and if you want to you’ll be assigned a mentor from Wermlands. This mentor will contact you by phone or/and e-mail and introduce you to the rest of your mentoring group which will be a mix of new students from Sweden and from international programs. Your mentors will plan activities, host pre-parties and answer all questions you may have.

Life as a novisch
Being a new student, or a novisch as it’s called here in Lund, is not just about the paperwork and the registration process. It’s also about the parties!
Wermlands hosts a Novisch Party to round off the Novisch period and it’s tradition that the mentors gather their groups for a small pre-party before the dinner. There is a list of the most vital activities included on the last page of this brochure, don’t forget to check it out!

More Wermlands!
At the end of each month there’s something called a Tackfest which basically translates into Thank you party and if you have worked in any of the food-, pub or club activities you’ll be treated to a three course meal and a casual, often themed, evening where focus is on having fun and enjoying the connections you’ve made at Wermlands. Working at Wermlands comes with several perks; you are provided with free food, candy, cookies and non-alcoholic drinks while you work, you’re automatically included in the Thank you party (just sign up) and you’re rewarded with activity points which helps you advance in the line for housing at Wermlands.

Wermlands is an active nation with a big group of committed members with varying interests and there’s a lot of space for new ideas and new concepts. If you have visions and ideas about clubs, music, art, culture, food, dance, singing, sports… Wermlands is where you want to be!
Our regular activities are listed on the back of the brochure and include night clubs, pubs, lunch, and café and so on. We also have a lot of other activities where new members and new ideas are welcome, such as the choir, the magazine Samojeden, the theatre group Spexet and our culture – and activity group who plan activities, events and field trips related to culture and recreation.

There are many reasons why Wermlands is a great choice for everyone – join us and add some more to the list!
